My new favorite fabric is by Timeless Treasures and is called April in Paris. I waited for a few months to order it since it was on backorder for so long -- I guess a lot of other people love it too! Here are a few images of some of the fabric in the collection.
I love these old images of Paris. I ended up purchasing the last fabric pictured with all the colorful Parisian imagery. I thought it would be so fun for an apron and a set of placemats. For the apron, I used a coordinating paisley patterned fabric where the predominate color was black for all the trim. I love how it turned out (I think I might have to make myself one!). I think this fabric would also make a nice ruffled apron, maybe matched with a black and white damask.
For the placemats, I coordinated the original fabric with a fabric that features a black and white street map of Paris. I thought this was a neat idea because maybe it would lead people down memory lane if they were looking at the map side of the placemat over breakfast. I know that when I showed this fabric to my husband, he tried to remember where he had stayed the last time he was there. Here is how the placemats turned out.
And a larger view of the map...
