I am a wife and a SAHM to two young boys. Before full-time Mommy-hood, I worked for 10+
years as a full-time engineer. I still
do a little part-time engineering work if/when they have some work for me (all
from home! Thank goodness!). But, with the economy slowing down, my
part-time work dried up. When this
happened late last summer, I was working on a couple of aprons that I was
planning to give to my Mom and sisters for Christmas. I remember thinking, “Too bad I can’t sew for
a living”. I had thought about this in
the past. I have always loved sewing
things for myself and my home, but I had never seriously looked into turning it
into some sort of a business. That is
when I discovered Etsy. What a great
concept!
I really wanted to try to open up a shop on Etsy but was
really unsure of myself. I just didn’t
know if I would be able to do it. My husband
and I had a serious discussion about it and he gave me that extra push that I needed
to just do it! Since then I have been
using every free second I have cutting, pinning, pressing, sewing - you get the
idea. And those aprons I had been working on as
presents actually ended up being some of my first listings on my shop!
Well, that is enough of an introduction for now. I am not sure if anyone will actually be interested
in reading any of my ramblings, but I thought it might be nice to write them
down anyway!
